I began my run with a 15 minute streatching video…I can tell that I must use the stratching each time I do a run…my calves did not hurt so much…I did feel ready to do the run! The streaching was active and really streached out the leg mucles! Once again I used the Pink Ribbon Workout Sports Warm up on exercise tv.
The run was nice not too hot (although I was plenty sweaty). The first 4 miles seemed to go well…the boys rode their bikes while I ran. They really are not used to riding that long..we will all have to adapt to longer rides :-)
Every time I stopped for a drink or a potty break I could feel my muscles want to clinch up…so, I tried to minimize the stopping.
The run back home was mostly up hill….I guess, I got some incline training in! I had to walk some…I can not wait to be able to run 12.1 miles and to run (at my pace) up the hills! That will be the day!!!
Once I got home I did the Pink Ribbon Workout Sports Cool down, and that was what this body needed. I do have a 5k on Saturday so I plan on taking the next two days off for rest days. I am thinking of doing a 10k bike ride on Friday.
Over all this was a great run. I listened to Motion Traxx-
Ep #3 Fitness Magazine Half-Marathon Mix” 68 minutes at 168 BPM. Includes the following dance music Styles/Genres: Progressive, House, Progressive, Funky Techno, Trance ‘Fuel for Running’
Then I switched to Ep #4 “Exotic Departure” 55 minutes at 140 BPM. Includes the following dance music Styles/Genres: Ethnic House, Progressive, Tribal Techno.
What a great way to run!!
Side note: everytime I took the GU Energy gel~I felt like I was going to puke. They did not sit well on my belly. (I took 3 over the run…thank God that the feeling left after a mile or so after taking the gels. I did not connect the two until the 3rd time…feeling well…then ill after the gel…maybe I am slow….) So I am going to try my Hammer Gels on the next long run. I will be happy to inform you on that product. I have used my Hammer gel on a 6 mile run and it was fine. Lets see what Hammer Gel can do for me :-)
Overall, I will repeat this run!!
